Experience gives us knowledge. Expertise gives us frameworks. But uncertainty tests whether we can use both when the usual assumptions no longer hold.
In uncertain environments, the temptation is to rely on instinct, past success, or confidence. Yet expertise is not the ability to always have the answer. It is the discipline to know what you know, recognise what you do not, and determine what must be verified.
You resort to evidence before assumption, fundamentals before noise, analysis before reaction, and adaptability before ego.
In financial markets, this becomes even more important. Prices move ahead of certainty. Information is incomplete. Sentiment can overwhelm fundamentals. A strategy that worked yesterday may not work tomorrow.
The expert therefore does not simply ask, “What has always worked?”
They ask:
“What has changed?”
“What remains true?”
“What evidence do I have?”
“What risk am I willing to accept?”
“And what would make me change my view?”
That last question may be the most important.
Because expertise without humility can become overconfidence, and confidence without adaptability can become vulnerability.
Uncertainty does not invalidate expertise. It reveals its depth.
When conditions become difficult, return to fundamentals. Re-examine assumptions. Seek better information. Listen to perspectives outside your own. Test the thesis. Manage the downside. Then make the best decision possible with the information available.
You may not control the environment.
But you can control how rigorously you respond to it.
True expertise is not knowing what will happen next. It is possessing the discipline, judgement, and adaptability to remain effective when you do not know.

Value-driven production can have a powerful disinflationary effect. When more goods and services are produced efficiently within the economy, supply increases. When supply chains become shorter and more competitive, costs can fall. When technology improves productivity, output can rise without a proportional increase in costs. When domestic manufacturing reduces dependence
There is something powerful about a large market. It produces demand, attracts capital, encourages competition, and creates room for scale. But market size alone does not establish prosperity. The real opportunity emerges when size is combined with discipline. Nigeria possesses one of Africa’s largest consumer markets, yet a significant portion
