When someone asks, “Who are you?” do you answer with your job title, your age, or your nationality? If so, you may be defining yourself by your false self. But beneath those labels lies something deeper… your authentic self, the essence of who you truly are. 

This is the beginning of a 5-part series exploring identity, the false self, and the authentic self. Together, we’ll uncover how external definitions limit us, the consequences of living falsely, and the path to embracing our true essence

The false self is built on external things: job, achievements, age, status, or ethnicity. The authentic self is rooted in values, passions, wisdom, and love. It is the part of you that exists beyond roles and expectations, the core that makes you uniquely you. 

Food for thought: Next time someone asks “Who are you?”, try answering with your values or passions instead of your job. How does that feel?
