For the past weeks, we explored the God Complex and reflected on ambition and humility. Now we begin a new series on resilience and emotional intelligence. This first post focuses on resilience: what it means, why it matters, and how it shows up in everyday life.

Understanding Resilience

Resilience is the ability to bounce back after challenges. It is the strength to keep going when life gets hard. Resilience does not mean avoiding problems…it means facing them and finding a way forward.

Everyday Examples of Resilience
  • Students: A student who fails an exam but studies harder and passes the next time shows resilience.
  • Workers: Someone who loses a job but keeps applying until they find a new one is resilient.
  • Families: Families who face financial struggles but support each other and rebuild demonstrate resilience.
  • Health: A person recovering from illness or injury, step by step, shows resilience in action.

Resilience is not about being perfect. It is about refusing to give up, even when things feel impossible.

Why Resilience Matters

Life is full of ups and downs. Without resilience, setbacks can break us. With resilience, setbacks become lessons. It helps us grow stronger, wiser, and more prepared for the future.

Food for Thought: Do we become resilient because of success, or because of the struggles we overcome?

Next week, we shall explore emotional intelligence…what it is, and why it is just as important as resilience.
