Launched in April 2023, PEPE is an Ethereum-based ERC-20 memecoin inspired by the Pepe the Frog internet meme. Unlike cryptocurrencies built around payments, decentralized finance, infrastructure, or other defined technological applications, PEPE was deliberately positioned as a community-driven asset whose value is primarily shaped by market demand, liquidity, social-media attention, community participation, and speculation. Its contract address is: 0x6982508145454ce325ddbe47a25d4ec3d2311933
As of the latest available data referenced in this update, the token has approximately 584,290 holders, a market capitalization of US$1.47 billion, a total supply of 413.77 trillion tokens, and is ranked 50th on CoinMarketCap, reflecting its growing presence in the cryptocurrency market.
PEPE does not derive its investment case from cash flows, earnings, or a conventional business model. Its market value is largely a function of how strongly the market believes in the continued relevance of the meme, the strength of its community, and the willingness of traders and investors to provide liquidity. The project positioned itself as a simple memecoin with zero transaction taxes and no promised utility. Its goal was to establish PEPE as one of the major meme-based cryptocurrencies alongside established meme assets such as Dogecoin and Shiba Inu.
PEPE has several characteristics associated with decentralisation, although these should not be interpreted as eliminating all forms of centralisation, market risk, and smart contract peculiarities.
PEPE’s early trajectory demonstrated the extraordinary speed at which social attention can translate into cryptocurrency market capitalisation shortly after its launch in April 2023. Between late April and May 2023, its market capitalization briefly reached approximately $1.6 billion, creating substantial gains for some early holders and contributing to a wider wave of memecoin speculation.
Its rise was not driven by conventional valuation metrics. Instead, the token benefited from a combination of rapid community formation, Social-media virality, exchange listings, speculative trading, deepening market liquidity, and the broader 2023 resurgence in meme-based cryptocurrency speculation.
The project’s original roadmap reflected this community-first approach. Its early objectives focused on CoinMarketCap listing and social-media growth, while later phases focused on centralized-exchange listings, major exchange listings, under a proposed “meme takeover” phase.
In simple terms
PEPE = Ethereum + meme culture + community + speculation.
A look at the recent chart structure on the daily TF, showing previous months’ supply and demand zone entries on spot and futures trading which is (optional),
Market Cap: US$1.47bn
All Time High: US$0.00002836
Community votes indicator: 85% bullish, 15% bearish
Support/Demand (US$); 00000.316, 00000.280
Resistance/Supply (US$); 00000.530-0.00000630, 0.00000879, 0.00001072, 0.00001400…
Should Pepe break above the Fibonacci supply level after rebounding at 0.00000530, the next resistance target with higher highs is expected. However, if it breaks below the demand at US$0.00000280, it risks creating a lower low, with US$0.00000231 expected to act as a stop-loss until price reclaims US$0.00000280 and retests the first entry level.
For investors, therefore, the central question is not simply “Is PEPE cheap?”
The more important question is: “Is the market entering another period in which liquidity, risk appetite and meme-coin participation can support a sustained repricing of PEPE?”
That distinction matters because a low token price does not necessarily mean an asset is undervalued.
PEPE is best understood not as a conventional fundamental asset but as a high-beta, sentiment-driven digital asset. Do not over-leverage. Investors may consider applying Dollar-Cost Averaging (DCA) as a risk management approach rather than attempting to time market movements.
